Techopedia Explains Image Processing
At its core, image processing has to do with the ways that developers and engineers can use quantitative data or numerical data sets to change the visual result. Image processing is done for various purposes, including the retrieval of specific information from an image, image recognition, image clarity or enhancement and pattern measurement. Types of image processing can also be separated into digital image processing, where programs work on a digital array of pixels, and analog image processing, where the software must work from a physical image.
