What Does Intelligent Information Management Mean?
Intelligent information management (IIM) is a set of processes that enables organizations to organize, manage and understand all types of data. IIM deals with data such as computer files, spreadsheets, databases and emails. Attributes that define IIM include integration of IP device discovery, data sharing, infrastructure databases, events and alarms, third-party integration, automated patching, and applications.

The Research Institute for Advanced Computer Science (RIACS) is a research organization founded in 1983 for joint collaborations with the NASA Ames Research Center and the Universities Space Research Association (USRA). RIACS helped NASA establish an intelligent systems division, and collaborated with this division to develop and infuse a number of software innovations in the area of intelligent information management and data understanding as well as autonomous systems and human-centered computing.
