AUSTIN, Texas — Job-search company Indeed will let 1,000 employees go, according to the company's CEO.
The layoffs at Austin-based Indeed were announced through a memo from CEO Chris Hyams on Monday as he took responsibility "for how we got here."
According to Hyams, the layoffs are necessary to simplify the organization and make it easier and faster to make decisions, along with more effectively growing revenue and hires.
In 2023, the company laid off 2,200 jobs across the board, but Hyams said these layoffs would be mostly concentrated in the U.S. KVUE reached out to Indeed on whether the layoffs would impact Austin employees, but it declined to provide any details.

"Last year … We reduced our headcount, instituted multiple cost-saving measures, and instilled investment discipline across the company. These measures worked, and we are now operating with stable profitability," Hyams said in a statement. "However … we are not yet set up for sustainable growth."
Indeed is expected to have a global town hall on Tuesday to discuss the organization's overall structure.
The company moved into its global co-headquarters inside the Indeed Tower in Downtown Austin last August. The company reportedly employs about 2,800 people in Austin across downtown and via its office in The Domain.
